Good article in Slate Magazine online this morning from another journalist growing somewhat nonplussed over the especially enabling television medium. Remember those frequent and disturbing broadcast images of our triumphalist "mission accomplished" commander-in-chief of a year and a half ago, framed always against bleachers filled with cheering enlistees? Remember how those superimposed flags used to billow translucently across the bottom of the screen all the while of every rally? Remember the Thanksgiving surprise last year? They were campaign commercials then, too.
To say so, I know, isn't very original. Who needs to have this pointed out to them who isn't beyond help?
